Doc K’s Bluesband

Original member Mick Haase on harp and vocals (Biffo), long standing member Dave Barnes on slide guitar and vocals ( Blues Movie, Mad Dog), lead guitarist Malcolm Hine ( S.A.L.T, Brett Marvin, Southside, Blues Twins et al) Mick Parker on drums and Simon Powe on bass.

Dr K's BLUESBAND play authentic exciting Blues and rocking R&B and have toured widely in Britain and Europe over many years.

Founded by Fairport's Ashley Hutchings in 1967, Dr K's have been stalwarts of the British Blues and R&B scene ever since. Dr K's extensive Family Tree includes Geoff Bradford ( Blues By 6, Cyril Davis All Stars) Geoff Krivitt ( John Mayall's Bluesbreakers) Eric Peachey ( East of Eden, Mick Taylor Band), with historical links to many other prominent bands and players.

This is truly an outstanding band. It has been said that they play, ‘quite simply North London’s best Chicago Blues.’ Don’t miss them

27th January

The Nicholas Meier Group:  www.meiergroup.com

Asaf Sirkis on drums, Pat Bettison on bass, Gilad Atzman on sax and Nicolas Meier on acoustic guitar and saz.

London based Swiss guitarist Nicolas Meier is one of the rising stars of a vibrant British jazz scene. The Meier Group have toured extensively in Europe, sharing the bill with the likes of Elvin Jones, Brad Meldau, Trilok Gurtu and Bill Evans and his extensive 2008 UK tour included the London International Guitar Festival.  In 2006 Meier and his band won the prestigious Grand Prize Of The Jury and 1st Prize Jazz Guitar at 2006 Jazz a Juan Revelations. He is becoming increasingly well known in his adopted country and is playing to packed houses across the country.

Meier draws on a multitude of influences including his wife, Songul’s native land of Turkey but his sound is rooted in his love of playing jazz on acoustic guitar and this is set to further establish Meier’s reputation as one of European jazz’s most exciting artists. Interestingly though, Meier maintains a passion for rock to this day, something that he ‘discovered’ at the Conservatoire Fribourg.

As well as leading his own band, Meier has worked with the likes of Harry Beckett, Dave O'Higgins, John Etheridge, Gilad Aztmon, Renato D'Aielo and Deidre Cartwright and is a prolific recording artist. He also continues to lead “Seven7”, his nu-metal band and is a guitar tutor at Goldsmiths University and at the "Academy of Contemporary Music" in Guildford.
